I have learned endless lessons from my mother – both the kind of things which I am proud of knowing, and the kind of things we try to unlearn together. What’s funny about this is that I have not learned the main because she tought me. It’s because I was present, many times, in the courses and workshops where she guides people who have to express their creativity to feel whole, and sometimes they don’t know how to make this path concrete in the everyday life.
The lesson is: do not postpond your dreams waiting for a specific condition. It will not come.
The worst that can happen to an idea is to ask for it to wait paciently until time comes. When we do so, we act like a child who, in their inocence, stores a popsicle in the backpack to wait for lunchtime in school. When the “ideal” time comes, all we’ll have is traces of something sweet and colorful that have melted away.
We have to be brave to trust the joy in feeling butterflies in the stomach, rather than paying attention to the fear that comes along. To give one’s best to ourselves and those around us, we must realize:: time to act is when the idea is ready, because we never are. Now I got this one, the next challenge is to practice it.
